ABOUT
The Dock and Doze is a cozy and comfortable Inn, situated in picturesque Westport on Brier Island, Nova Scotia. With breathtaking views of the ocean, we offer guests a relaxing stay while providing easy access to nature trails, bird watching, whale watching excursions, and nearby amenities, including the ferry. Guests can enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the area and a relaxing retreat during their visit. The original and beloved proprietor of the Dock and Doze Inn was the late Titus, Captain Peter Hantford. Captain Peter spent most of his life on the water as a commercial fisherman, crew member on numerous boats, and Captain (owner/ operator) of the fishing vessel Titus Talisman 2002. Upon retirement, he was a shore Captain and enjoyed welcoming guests to the Dock and Doze Inn. Islanders have fond memories of Captain Peter and his family. We hope to honour his memory and will continue to provide the same warm island welcome to all who ring our bell.

Aptly named the Upper Deck, this open concept unit is on the second floor and overlooks the beautiful Westport harbour and ferry.Complete with a double bed, cot and pullout couch this unit will comfortably sleep 5 people. Nature Trails
Explore the beautiful nature trails that surround our motel and enjoy the stunning scenery. The Brier Island Coastal Trail crosses 4 km of gently rolling seaside meadows and wide open beach within the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Brier Island Nature Reserve.
Whale Watching Excursions
Experience the thrill of whale watching with one of the many excursions available nearby.Brier Island is know to be a premiere destination to see endangered or rare species of whales like the Humpback, Finback and Right Whales, as well as other species of dolphins, porpoises and seabirds.
Bird Watching
Brier Island is a bird watcher's paradise, with many unique species to spot and enjoy. Located on the Atlantic flyway, we’re also a birdwatcher’s heaven. more than 300 species have been identified at this globally significant area.
Ferry Rides
When you travel to Brier Island you have to take two separate ferries, one short ferry ride from East Ferry (on the Digby Neck mainland) to Tiverton, Long Island and another slightly longer ride from Long Island to Brier Island.
Beaches
Enjoy a day at the beach and soak up the sun on one of the many beautiful beaches in the area. Pond Cove Beach is a popular long sandy beach and hiking trail destination on Digby Neck. It is a long beach and ideal for beachcombing, especially at low tide.

My favorite place to lay my head after a long day of travel! It just feels like home from the second you pull into the driveway.
The beds are comfortable the room spacious and the view is beautiful! Extra bonus the owners lovely

Cozy,clean and very friendly owners!
This was my first stay at the Dock & doze motel and it surely wont be my last. My BFF and I were celebrating our 60th birthdays and we couldn't have stayed at a better spot. The room was large, comfortable and very clean. We also enjoyed sitting on the front porch overlooking the ocean and seeing the sun rise and set. The owners are 2 of this nicest people you could ever meet and made us feel right at home. We were so surprised when there was a knock on the door and we were given 2 of the best butter tarts I have ever had, each with a candle, to celebrate our birthdays,SO NICE! The room is very close to the ferry dock but it did not bother us at all with noise. Comfy bed and pillows,real coffe pods and creamers were a nice added touch with ceramic mugs even!
Absolutely lovely stay here. Watch the ferry while sipping your morning coffee. Walking distance to whale tours, pub, lodge for dinner. Sue and George are wonderful. "Tim Hortons" across the street (not really. you'll see).
